About TUSOME and TABASAM
TUSOME is an innovative EdTech startup based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, dedicated to transforming education through accessible and inclusive digital solutions. Our flagship product, the TABASAM Diagnostic System, is an AI-powered platform focused on assessing and supporting Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), literacy, and numeracy for youth aged 3 to 18. TABASAM enables schools, parents, and communities to conduct screenings and track progress, fostering inclusive education. TUSOME was established to address educational disparities, and our current one-year project aims to reach 12,000 youths across Tanzania, with a focus on low-income and rural communities, aligning with our core values of empowerment, innovation, and inclusivity.
Role Overview
The Community Engagement Officer will be the face of TUSOME, building strong relationships with schools, EdTech companies, NGOs, and local communities to drive the adoption of the TABASAM platform. This role is critical to achieving our goal of reaching 12,000 youths by facilitating partnerships, organizing events, and ensuring community buy-in for the project.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, EdTech companies, and NGOs to integrate TABASAM into their programs.
Organize and facilitate community workshops and stakeholder events to promote TABASAM.
Conduct outreach to parents, teachers, and community leaders to ensure engagement in TABASAM screenings.
Collect and document feedback from community members to inform platform improvements.
Coordinate with the Marketing Lead to align community efforts with broader campaign goals.
Represent TUSOME at local education forums, achieving at least 3 speaking opportunities per quarter.
Support the monitoring and evaluation team by tracking community participation metrics for 3,000 youths per quarter.
Education Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
Experience in community engagement, preferably in education or EdTech projects.
Proven track record of building partnerships with schools, NGOs, or government bodies in Tanzania.
Strong facilitation skills, with experience organizing workshops or events for 100+ participants.
Excellent Swahili and English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with Tanzanian education systems and community dynamics in Dar es Salaam.
Experience with data collection or feedback processes is a plus.

Role Overview
The Marketing Lead will spearhead TUSOME’s marketing efforts in Dar es Salaam, driving user acquisition and awareness for the TABASAM platform. This role is pivotal in achieving our target of engaging 12,000 youths by designing and executing impactful campaigns tailored to Tanzanian communities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and launch a pilot marketing campaign in Dar es Salaam.
Expand campaigns to Mwanza, Tanga, Mtwara, and Arusha.
Manage quarterly marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective strategies.
Create campaign materials, including flyers, social media content, and radio scripts.
Collaborate with the Community Engagement Officer to align campaigns with school, EdTech companies, and NGO partnerships.
Oversee social media platforms, increasing followers and posting updates monthly.
Analyze campaign metrics (e.g., reach, engagement, conversions) and report quarterly to optimize strategies.
Education Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
Experience in marketing, with at least 2 years in campaign management, preferably in education or tech sectors.
Proven success in reaching 5,000+ users through offline and online campaigns in Tanzania.
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian media landscape, including radio and social media platforms.
Excellent Swahili and English communication skills, with experience in content creation.
Proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) to track campaign performance.
Location: Dar es Salaam (preferred, offline) or Remote (Africa-based)

We aim to impact 12,000 youths in Tanzania over the next year through the TABASAM project, prioritizing accessibility, innovation, and inclusion for underserved communities.
Role Overview
The Software Developer will enhance and maintain the TABASAM platform, ensuring it meets the needs of 12,000 youths across Tanzania. This role involves developing mobile-friendly interfaces, integrating AI analytics, and optimizing for low-bandwidth environments, with flexibility for remote work if based in Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and test mobile-friendly SMS/USSD interfaces, achieving functionality for 12,000+ users.
Implement group analytics features, enabling tracking for student groups.
Integrate mobile payment options, ensuring successful transactions.
Optimize TABASAM for low-bandwidth areas, achieving 99% uptime in 5 regions by September 15, 2025.
Build user-friendly dashboards for parents and teachers.
Collaborate with the TUSOME team to address feedback from pilot users and ensure platform scalability.
Education Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in software development, with expertise in mobile/web applications.
Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks.
Experience with AI/ML integration (e.g., predictive analytics) and mobile payment APIs.
Knowledge of low-bandwidth optimization and USSD/SMS platforms, preferably in African contexts.
Strong problem-solving skills and experience with user feedback-driven development.
Based in Africa, with reliable internet for remote work if not in Dar es Salaam.
Swahili proficiency is a plus for local collaboration.
